Two members of the Board of Directors joined the medical mission trip to the Domnican Republic sponsored by At Home and Afar. The mission provided a medical clinic to two areas that lack adequate medical resources and did home visits to patients unable to come to the clinic. We were able to distribute medical supplies, medicines and reading glasses and deliver supplies to a nearby community clinic. The mission also worked with the community on some construction projects. The goal was to provide concrete floors to those living on dirt floors, which foster infection and parasitic contamination.
We were so impressed by the At Home and Afar volunteers. These doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and early childhood workers were dedicated and committed to empowering this community. They have been making these trips for a number of years and we were grateful for the opportunity to join.
